A number of years ago, as I considered career experiences and reflected on what I most enjoy in life, I found myself returning to curriculum development and training, or teaching depending on the setting! I had to ask myself does anyone really listen to training podcasts on their way home from work? Or search out new information on e-learning and instructional design on the weekends? How about write three courses after work for a music theory test prep class, then teach the class, simply to make the concepts easier for students to learn than it was for me. Then later tackle the quest of finding a way to teach the class online while relocating to another state? That was my world from 2010 to 2014. After relocating to Colorado I stepped into the University of Colorado Denver’s Learning Technology and Design master’s program, and since then have been been enjoying creating courses and learning content as we seek to engage and motivate learners in the classroom, online and in hybrid environments!
Current Learning Path
With my CPTM (Certified Professional in Training Management) in hand I moved into pursuing my Surveyor certification through Sententia games during the Fall of 2022, completed the Journeyman second level certification in February 2023, and look forward to wrapping up the certification in the Summer of 2024.
In addition, I have completed the Quality Matters Peer Reviewer Certification and once a second National Review is offered to me I will be in a position to begin the Master Reviewer Certification.
