What started in 2019 as a quest to end the double tagging of assets being disposed of through Surplus Property become a quest to increase efficiency and understand of the university’s policy for disposing of assets along with increasing efficiency for processing of assets once they arrived at the warehouse.
The proposal and project launched by the Surplus Property Manger and I involved working with the software company on a reprogram to launch a major upgrade to our instance of the software and eliminate the double tagging of assets in January of 2020. One of the bigger hurdles was the change management piece as we worked with a team that was not accustomed to change. As a follow up to that project I began work on an online self-paced training course, complete with a game to serve as the summative assessment that would showcase learning and provide those collecting 18 medallions with their new logon to the software. The launch was in July 2022. There was almost time to turn around before the software vendor announced in October 2022 that they would be updating the software in February 2023.
A new project was launched to provide another update to users to provide a preview of the update to the software to campus users. This one’s a bit longer than I would normally create, however our communication encourages our users to grab a cup of coffee and take about 15 minutes for a short review of policy and a peek at the forthcoming update. Note: As of 2/10/2022 closed captions still need to be added.
